Painting Instructions

  1. Pencil an oval avocado shape, ~8" tall × 7" wide, slightly tilted.
  2. Outer skin: dark FOREST GREEN, fairly thick band around the edge.
  3. Inner flesh: AVOCADO FLESH (#A8C76A). Blend slightly with cream toward the center for a gradient.
  4. The pit: large brown circle in GRILLED CHICKEN brown (#7A4A2E), with a thin cream highlight crescent on its upper-left for shine.
  5. Subtle olive shadow inside the rim of the flesh, just where it meets the skin.

★ Pro tip for this element

The pit should look glossy — that single cream highlight on the upper-left of the pit is what sells it. Don't skip it.

Common Acrylic Rules

RuleDetail

LayersTWO thin coats > one thick coat — every time
Dry time between coats15-20 min minimum (acrylic feels dry sooner but isn't)
Brush careRinse in water between colors, blot on rag. Never let paint dry in brush.
MistakesWait 24 hrs, paint over with cream base, dry, redo
Final seal (whole mural, day 5)Matte acrylic clear topcoat — protects from grease + cleaning
